An Inspector is needed to conduct safety and device inspections of propane storage, dispensing

and utilization facilities located at various locations within the state of Missouri including service

stations, bulk plants, airports, schools, nursing facilities and fuel terminals; enforce statutes and

regulations; and provide consultation for new installations. Must have a minimum of five years’

technical experience in the propane industry relating to the installation, operation or repair of

fuel storage, utilization and dispensing systems; considerable knowledge of NFPA pamphlets 54

and 58 safety standards; and computer skills. Extensive travel with frequent overnight stays is

The Missouri Propane Safety Commission (MPSC) is pleased to announce that Derek Poe has been appointed Executive Director effective July 7, 2022. Poe has 15 years of experience in propane operations management with both Titan Propane and AmeriGas Propane successfully managing budgets exceeding $2 million. He proposed and implemented the AmeriGas Area 28 Safety Committee. He has extensive industry experience serving on the boards of the Missouri Propane Safety Commission, the Missouri Propane Gas Association where he is a Past President and the Missouri Propane Education & Research Council.



“We are excited to have Derek as a new leader to continue the progress of the Safety Commission since its formation over a decade ago,” said Larry Borts, Chairman of the Missouri Propane Safety

Commission. “ Derek’s strong safety experience at AmeriGas and Titan combined with the relationships he has built working with Missouri’s propane retailers through many years on the boards of MPSC, MPGA and MO-PERC make him a great leader for the Commission.”


An Assistant Golf Professional prior to joining the propane industry in 2006, Poe was a Service Technician for a year with Titan Propane before becoming a District Manager for Titan in 2007 which was later acquired by AmeriGas. In 2020, he became an Area Manager for AmeriGas. Poe is married to Amy and has three daughters Jalisa, Brandi and Abby.
